Meditation is the art of quieting the mind and allowing yourself to tune into your innermost feelings. Meditation as a mindfulness practice allows you to reduce anxiety, increase focus, and allow for deeper reflection and insight development. At Passages, we offer meditation classes several times per week where a certified yoga instructor guides you through breathing exercises, guided imagery, and mindfulness exercises. We believe this practice can help with the consolidation of the individual therapeutic work you do, allowing you the space and skills to reflect and process the transformational work you are doing. This is also a coping skill you can take home with you and master throughout your recovery from drugs and alcohol.
“Stress and anxiety cause our brains to release chemicals that put lines in our faces and tear us down emotionally and spiritually.”
